President Mehmet Ali Talat and the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias will meet again tomorrow to continue their discussions with the aim of finding a solution to the Cyprus problem.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Spokesman Martin Nesirky has stated that the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon had separate telephone conversations with the two leaders after his visit to Cyprus. Mr Nesirky said that the two leaders reiterated their commitment towards finding a solution to the Cyprus problem and to continue the negotiations, during their conversations with the UN Chief.

Asked about reported criticism of the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer, he said that Mr Downer is doing a tough job extremely well and has earned the confidence of both the Turkish and Greek Cypriot leadership as well as the UN Secretary-General Ban.

This afternoon, Mr Downer visits President Talat, just a day before tomorrow’s meeting between the two leaders.
