Immoveable Property Commission Internationally Recognised

President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights proved the international recognition of the TRNC’s Immoveable Property Commission.

He noted that the decision has actually established a new ground for settling the Property issue that involves exchange and restitution of properties as well as the compensation, where these are the remedy methods the Property Commission is applying.

In his speech at the gathering of the Union of the Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects today, Talat stressed that the ECHR’s decision introduced a new caselaw, differing from the one introduced in the Loizidou case which forced Turkey to pay compensation to the former Greek Cypriot property owner.

The President emphasized that success is always there to come as long as the Cyprus Turkish policy does not challenge against the international law and order.
