Congress of Worldwide Turkish Cypriots
 
The 1. Congress of Worldwide Turkish Cypriots was held on the 12-13 November under the slogan 'Forever TRNC'  with the aim of bringing Turkish Cypriot civil groups and affluent figures together, and to talk on TRNC Recognition and bettering international lobbying for the TRNC cause.

ATCA Representatives Kerem Hasan and Hatice Kerimgil alongside hundreds of other civil community groups, lawyers, businessman, academics and former military generals from around the globe converged at the Acapulco Hotel in Girne where important issues such as TRNC Recognition and organising the Turkish Cypriots abroad for more effective lobbying was discussed.

The two day long event included visits to President Dervis Eroglu, Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk, Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun and other government officials.

Leading figures including the founding President Rauf Raif Denktas addressed the Congress. Turkish Cypriots from the UK, Australia, United States and Dubai were present, and were able to make short addresses to the Congress.
 
Workshops
 
On the second day, Lord Maginnis of Drumglass started the day with an address where he pointed to the injustices being faced by the Turkish Cypriots. Other speeches were delivered including by ATCA-TRNC Representative Kerem Hasan, who gave examples and the successes of ATCA's global lobbying efforts. ATCA also presented copies of its 'Homeland' documentary and hundreds of booklets which gave details of ATCA and its activities.

The addresses made at the Congress focused primarily on effective lobbying and the need for the Turkish Cypriots to be more organised. Issues on lobbying, education and health aswell as general issues were discussed in numerous workshops.
 
Declaration
 
At the end of the Congress, a unanimous vote was made where the particpants called on the Recognition of the TRNC and for an end to the unjust isolations imposed on the country.

The declaration also set the views of the diaspora concerning their concerns and desires in any solution to the Cyprus issue, the need to raech a solution which respected the realities of the island and which continued the active and effective guarantees of Turkey. The declaration also lended full support to the efforts of President Dervis Eroglu.

Thirdly, a decision was also made form a new 'Trust' (Vakif) for the Congress, which would meet once a year with the aim of bringing together the Turkish Cypriots.
